Vision Testing

Regular vision testing is necessary to ensure that you always have the healthiest vision possible. Our Philadelphia and Huntingdon Valley optometrists perform regular visual acuity testing as part of our comprehensive eye exams. Based on the results of your vision tests, our optometric physicians may prescribe corrective glasses, contacts or eye exercises.

Eye Function Testing

We include testing for eye functionality. Our optometric physicians test to evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle coordination, peripheral vision and responsiveness to light. We perform several other simple tests to determine if your eyes are focusing, moving and working together properly. The test results enable Dr. McDermott to diagnose any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes ability to focus or work together.

Eye Health

We evaluate overall eye health using visual field examination and tonometry. We evaluate eye health by visually inspecting the eye and eyelids under magnification and bright light. In some cases, we may dilate the pupils to examine the internal structures of the eye. We utilize tonometry to measure eye pressure as a possible indicator of glaucoma.

After these short tests, we’ll review your results and discuss treatment options with you.
